This is the original picture.

The changes I did to this picture: I adjusted the curves to try to take the color down a notch. After failing with that, I turned it black and white. I repeatedly used the burn tool to tone down the background and the dodge tool to brighten up the dancers. I sharpened the mask of the photo and finally cropped it.
